Please note that the track promoters/association shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in their opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decisions are final!
GENERAL RULES
1. No one is permitted in the pit area without purchasing a pit pass. The purchase of a pit pass assures your signature for verification of insurance protection.
2. All persons, age 15 & under, MUST BE accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian over the age of 21, and have a waiver release form signed by that adult.
3. SPORTSMANSHIP - It shall be the responsibility of every person to conduct himself in a sportsmanlike manner. Anyone using threatening, vulgar language, and gestures or any type of harassment can and will be disqualified from the event, even if the event is over. Anyone starting a fight will get some type of suspension before being allowed to return to the premises. A fight is defined as making physical contact with the intent to cause harm. Anyone can be barred from entering the track premises, event and/or up to one-month suspension. Any un-sportsmanlike conduct after checkered flag may result in disqualification and/or suspension.
4. PIT CREWS - In all adult classes, the driver is responsible for the control and actions of their pit crew. In child classes, parent or guardian will be responsible for their child's pit crew, as well as the friends of their child. If any person is at a driver's cart without a pitpass, it will result in the loss of points for that driver for the night.
5. PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE - All participants entering the racing facility shall be sober and not under the influence of any substance that may impair their ability to participant in a safe and orderly manner. It is the responsibility of the participant to withdraw from completion if they are taking any medication that may display side effects that would impair their ability to safely compete. If, in the judgment of the officials in charge, an individual is under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance during the period of an event, they may be ejected from the restricted area and/or event site immediately. (Ref. WKA rule 105.3)
6. Anyone injured while at the track must report the injury immediately to proper personnel. If severe, contact ambulance crew immediately! If the injury appears to be minor, it still must be reported as it may have the potential to develop more serious problems in the future.
7. WASTE OIL BARRELS - These are provided for proper disposal of used oil. Any team disposing oil in trash containers or is found to be dumping oil in any place other than those marked barrels shall be fined $ 50.00 for the first offense. The fine will double for each additional offense.
8. TRASH -Everyone will be responsible for the removal of all trash from their pit area and surrounding area. Any team found to be leaving trash in their pit area could receive a suspension of points. There are trash barrels placed in different areas of the race track.
9. A race may be stopped at any time if the flagman or officials contemplate danger or unsafe conditions.
10. Full face crash helmets (Snell 2000 or better) and neck collars or braces are mandatory for all races. All drivers are required to wear a HEAVY, long sleeve jacket and ankle length trousers, or an approved racing suit. All drivers must wear gloves, and footwear must provide ankle support.
11. Anyone requesting a change in classes MUST have some proof of age to show at registration. Class change can ONLY move upward. Once you advance, you may not move back down. Greenwood allows you to move up in class 3 times throughout the second half of the season without having to stay up in class. During moving up the 3 times, you may enter both classes.
12. A race will be counted as complete once 80% of heats are finished: feature points will be awarded per finish order of heat. On nights with a chance of rain, classes with the most karts will be scheduled to run first. If heat races are complete for all but 4 classes with 4 or more karts and we rain out, race will count as feature. 4 remaining classes and classes with 4 or lass karts will run their feature 10 laps the following week right after hot laps. Then, that week's heat race will run. Special events and wing karts do not count as classes. Kids karts and classes with 4 or less are not part of the 80%.
13. No one other than track officials are allowed to approach the flag stand.
14. No one other than track officials or emergency personnel are allowed to enter the track.
15. You must run in at least 60% of the races to qualify for the end of the year awards. Adult classes and classes with 5 or less karts will only receive trophies - no track champion jacket. Classes with 5 or less karts are not eligable for overall track champion points. There must be 6 or more karts in a class on a consistant basis to qualify.
16. Track officials reserve the right to eliminate any classes with less than 4 karts, or if allowed to run with another class, reserves the right to separate the class at any time.
17. Once you register to race, if hot laps start, no refunds will be given due to mechanical issues. If you are called away for an emergency before you race, there may be an exception depending on when you had to leave.
Competition Rules
1. Driving rules or issues will be discussed weekly at drivers meeting and can be added to or taken from, as the track officials see fit in order to keep safe and orderly racing conditions.
2. Rough driving will not be tolerated. First offense for rough driving will be a warning and a position at the end of the field. A second offense for rough driving will result in the karter receiving the black flag and the loss of all points for that event. Turning down into a kart that has position on you to pass to stop his momentum is considered rough driving if his position is his nose is 1/2 way up your kart.
3. Any kart/driver involved in three cautions will be given the black flag. The definition of "Involved" will be determined by track officials. We will take consideration for kids, especially new drivers.
4. If it is the flagman's opinion that a kart had no choice, but to spin out to avoid serious contact with a kart or group of karts out of normal racing position that kart will not be sent to the rear.
5. The flagman will control the start of the race as conditions of track permit. If your kart experiences a problem at the grid, prior to the green flag, you will be given five laps to get on the track. The kart will be removed from the event if unsuccessful. The five lap rule is a general guideline. If we see that you will soon be ready we may allow more time, especially for kid's classes.
6. No laps will be given for change or repair of flat tires.
7. When the yellow flag is displayed, slow down immediately. DO NOT wait until you cross the finish line to decrease speed.
8. All starts and re-starts will be on TURN FOUR. A white chalk line will signify the start and finish line.
9. Participants of a race involved in jumping (passing of another kart/karts in front of you before the green light is displayed) will receive a first offense WARNING, but remain in line. The second offense will result in a rear of the field position. The third offense will result in disqualification.
10. Heat race line-ups will be determined by drawing a number for starting position. Features will be the order in which you finished the heat.
11. During red flag, 2 representatives for each kart are allowed to enter track. No tools or working on the karts allowed. No air pressure changes. If you see something that is a potential safety issue, show us. We will assist you in fixing it. Example: Zip tie something loose. You will be allowed to continue for safety repairs.
12. If the caution comes out for you or your kart, you go to the rear. Examples: You loose your neck brace, your bumper is dragging, etc. Once caution is out, you are not penalized for spin or stopping on track.
FLAG RULES
1. Flags and lights MUST be obeyed without question! The lights are just as important as the flags. You can see the light from the back straight away but you can't see the flag from there. The lights mean the same thing as the flag of the same color.
2. FLAG SIGNALS:
A. GREEN - Race starts- All is clear
B. YELLOW - Slow down, proceed with caution but be prepared to stop. Stay in position, DO NOT PASS!
C. RED - STOP IMMEDIATELY!! Once the reason for the red flag is resolved, all karts will be realigned and re-started.
